Woman charged in city’s 180th murder of the year

COLUMBUS – A 20-year-old woman has been charged with shooting a man to death during an argument in front of a Northeast Side address early Sunday.

This was the 180th homicide of 2021 in Columbus, which has already broken the record for the highest number of murders in a single year.

The 30-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was found in a front yard in the 1500 block of E 25th Avenue at 2:05 a.m., suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Homicide Unit said.

He was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition and died just after 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.

A witness at scene told police there was an altercation that led to the shooting, Powell said.
