COLUMBUS – Police are still trying to confirm the identity of a woman found shot to death inside a vacant North Linden home on Monday.
UPDATE 11/03/22 7:27 a.m.: Police have identified the victim of this homicide as 36-year-old Jessica Sue Sykes
Officers responding to a report of a body in a vacant house in the 2500 block of Howey Road at 12:24 p.m. found the woman inside, suffering from an unknown injury, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus Division of Fire personnel and further investigation determined she was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending confirmation and after her family has been notified, Shimberg said.
This incident remains under investigation.
This is the 121st homicide of the year in Columbus.
