Woman’s death deemed suspicious

COLUMBUS – Police are treating the death of a woman whose body was found in the parking lot of a Far West Side apartment complex Wednesday morning as suspicious.

UPDATE 6?18/21 6:46 a.m.: The victim in this incident has been identified as Ashley Steinfels, 33, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office has ruled the cause of death a drug overdose, police said.

Officers responding to a report of a woman lying in the parking lot outside of 733 Bankview Drive at 6:00 a.m. found the victim in the 600 block of Crawdaddy Lane, who was unresponsive and not breathing, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators were still attempting to identify the victim early Thursday and had very little information, Shimberg said.
